A programme used to test and measure the carbon footprint of high profile companies is now being adapted for pastoral farmers.

The Warehouse, SkyCity, Air New Zealand and Mainfreight are among those already using Toitū Envirocare’s carbon reduction and certification programme.

It allows a business to audit and verify what its carbon footprint is and analyse how it could be reduced.

Toitū said a certified low carbon footprint opens up marketing opportunities to the increasing number of people choosing to buy or use sustainable products.
