Coronavirus: Ministry ramps up training, data systems ahead of Covid-19 vaccine

Work is under way to prepare New Zealand for a mass Covid-19 vaccination programme, though it remains unclear when a vaccine will be available.

The global race to find a Covid-19 vaccine is moving rapidly, with a handful already in phase 3 (the final, most time-consuming and difficult stage), and just last week the Government pledged hundreds of millions of dollars on securing a Covid-19 vaccine for New Zealand.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Health told Stuff it does not know “when a vaccine will be available, or whether there will initially be enough to offer to all New Zealanders”, but “we are preparing for all possibilities”.
