EPA to reassess controversial agricultural chemical chlorpyrifos

Horticulturalists say, as more agricultural chemicals are banned from use, there is a risk crops will become more vulnerable.

Newer, “softer” chemicals take a long time to be approved for use, which can leave growers with few options in the meantime.

The Environmental Protection Authority recently announced it was reassessing the use of the chlorpyrifos, a controversial organophosphate widely used in agriculture.
