The Government and National will today unveil a speed-up of plans to force housing density on cities with planning law changes, in a remarkable bipartisan announcement.
The controversial planning statement, which removes height limits for buildings in many urban areas and bans car parking requirements, has already proved contentious in Wellington and Christchurch.
While it doesn’t force anyone to sell their property or develop it, it may allow their neighbours to do so.
