Persuasive Adviser Program

This course is ideal for in-house training and it typically tailored to suit each business.  Bryan works with groups, ideally with 20 participants, which can be made up of one business or two-three businesses.  In the scenario where there is a shared training situation, the course will be semi tailored around a more general approach.

The average piece of business advice to an executive takes about 8 hours of your and your team’s time to prepare and 15 minutes to deliver.

Those 15 minutes simply cannot be wasted.

This course is for any adviser, practitioner or manager who wants to become a master influencer.

The Persuasive Adviser Program tackles the challenge risk advisers, practitioners and managers have with getting their message and key advice through to their stakeholders.

The Persuasive Adviser Program has been delivered successfully to full-houses across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors and it will give you all you need to make the difference you know you can make, so you can create the change that is needed in your organisation.

One of the most common complaints Bryan hears from internal advisers of all kinds (admin, finance, HR, IT, risk, compliance, procurement and audit as examples) is how difficult it is to get some business leaders to listen to them, and even harder to get them to act on their advice.

The biggest issue most advisers face is that they have to be a corporate cop from time to time. It then makes it very hard to turn around the next day and say to a business leader, “I am your trusted adviser on this and here is my advice.” Yet, it is all about trust.

Consider the trust scale in the diagram below. Are you seen as a controller, like a financial controller, or an expert? If so you are not having the impact you could, you are not making the difference you know you can make.

What you will learn

  1. How best to stand in the shoes of your stakeholders and internal clients, including the executives and the board.
  2. How to paint them a picture to clarify and engage.
  3. How to use stories to connect and inspire.
  4. How best to ensure you have so much credibility, they cannot help but follow your advice.

Embedding Risk Culture

About

This workshop is for risk professionals tasked with developing or influencing an effective risk culture across the business.

What you will learn

  1. Understand what culture and specifically risk culture is and how culture affects organisations.
  2. Appreciate the pros and cons of various methods for assessing risk culture.
  3. How to design an effective program for embedding risk culture.
  4. Tips for implementing your risk culture program.

The key principle of risk management is that it creates and protects value. The challenge for risk professionals is that legacy cultures undervalue risk management. They see risk more as a compliance activity than something aligned to purpose, values and designed to help drive a successful strategy.

As strategy specialist Peter Drucker said, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast”. And so, risk culture, as a subset of culture, eats risk management for lunch. Leaving you, the risk professional, wondering how you can change hearts and minds – fast.

This course will provide you with a multi-faceted approach to assessing and improving risk culture. It will also give you the ability to develop forward-looking metrics to enable you to tangibly measure and evidence positive culture change. In turn, you will shift from being seen as corporate cop to corporate builder of a strong cultural fabric. Delivering a risk intelligent workforce.
