Twitter expands safety trial to include half of its Kiwi users

Twitter says it is “Safety Mode” trial, which began in September, to include around 50 per cent of its users in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand.

Safety Mode is an autoblocking feature.

Already, you can manually block someone if they abuse or spam you – or you just don’t like them. The block lasts until you lift it.

With the new Safety Mode, someone deemed abusive or spammy by Twitter’s algorithms will be automatically blocked for seven days.
