Up to 75,000 water suppliers could be affected by water reforms, Feds say

Federated Farmers says its worst fears are being realised after the definition of a water supplier came back unchanged from the first reading of the Water Services Bill.

The farming lobby group estimated up to 75,000 drinking water suppliers could be affected, including most farms.

Despite extensive arguments from Federated Farmers and many others at the select committee hearings, tens of thousands of rural and farm supply arrangements would fall within the scope of the new water regulator Taumata Arowai, president Andrew Hoggard said.
