The 2018 RiskNZ Awards of Excellence are open – Nominate Now!

Supported by RiskNZ’s premier sponsors, JLT and SAI Global, the RiskNZ Awards of Excellence will honour notable achievements of individuals and organisations within New Zealand in the area of risk management over the last 12 months.

The RiskNZ Awards of Excellence will be presented in Wellington on Wednesday 12 September at the conclusion of the 2018 Risk Practitioners Day, which this year will focus on the theme of “Practice to Performance: Risk Management in Action,” and will be hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority.

The RiskNZ Awards of Excellence will be presented across four categories.

In addition to the four Award categories, RiskNZ may also present Exemplar Awards for Special Achievement to individuals, organisations or projects deemed to have achieved exceedingly high standards in risk management.

 


RiskNZ Awards of Excellence 2018 – Awards Categories

1

Risk Management Professional of the Year

Open to RiskNZ members only

Nominations must relate to risk management activity practiced within New Zealand.

This award recognises individuals who have made significant achievements in their risk management role in the past year. It is open to individuals who have responsibility for risk management in any type of organisation, with an emphasis on finding examples of clear excellence and outstanding personal qualities. The judges will be looking for evidence of:

  • Career achievement;
  • Aspirational predisposition;
  • Contribution to the risk management body of knowledge through publication and/or participation in industry events;
  • Development of other professionals;
  • Contributions through voluntary service;
  • Reflecting the philosophies of RiskNZ.

Emerging Risk Manager of the Year

Open to RiskNZ members only

Nominations must relate to risk management activity practiced within New Zealand.

This award recognises individuals with recent achievement and future potential within risk management who have come into the profession of risk management more recently in their career. The judges will be looking for evidence of-

  • Personal achievement in strengthening organisational performance;
  • Successful team-building;
  • Personal development activity to build skills and knowledge;
  • The impact or contribution to overall performance of their organisation;
  • A notable contribution to and recognition in the wider profession outside the individuals own organisation.

Excellence in developing capability in Risk Management

Open to RiskNZ members and non-members, who are nominated by RiskNZ members

This award is aimed at organisations of all types who can show they are committed to ensuring that they have the risk management skills, knowledge and resources needed to enhance business performance both now and in the future.

The judges will be looking for evidence of:

  • Understanding of the skills and knowledge needed at all levels of the organisation for the effective management of risk;
  • Clear plans for the development of individuals and teams and the appropriate allocation of resources to strengthen risk management capability;
  • Benchmarking against risk management standards;
  • Organisational or customary barriers successfully overcome;
  • Team or individual activity leading to sustained performance improvement;
  • Successful team-building across geographical or organisational boundaries.

Innovation in Risk Management

Open to RiskNZ members and non-members, who are nominated by RiskNZ members

Nominations must relate to risk management activity practiced within New Zealand.

This award recognises organisations who have introduced innovative approaches to strengthening risk management practice that adds real value (this can include technology or other innovative approaches).

The judges will be looking for evidence of:

  • Clear understanding of the issue that the innovation is employed to address
  • Successful project management, including risk management and team-working to deliver a technology based solution
  • Successful integration of the innovation solution into the organisation
  • Demonstrable value added to the risk management function by the innovation solution

Nomination Process

Nominations for the RiskNZ Awards of Excellence are now open and will close at 5pm on Wednesday 25th July 2018.

All nominations must be submitted on a RiskNZ Awards 2018 Nomination Form.

Nominations should read no more than 1500 words and also contain two references. Please carefully read the full Terms and Conditions of Entry.

All completed nomination forms shoud be sent via email to Sathya Ashok at sathya@risknz.org.nz before the deadline.
